As I sit here with a sick child home from school (and the other 3 kids sick all within the last month), I thought it was important to talk for a second about the precautions we take at Twisters to keep your kids healthy and safe. There are two people in our gym that most of you wouldn’t know unless you stop in to visit us in the mornings, or your kids attend summer daytime activities. The first is named Carl. (He’d kill me if he knew what I was about to say.) He’ probably one of the greatest people ever when it comes to keeping your kids healthy. His job in the gym is to come in 5 days a week and clean the gym. He sanitizes every mat every morning, vacuums and mops floors, wipes down sinks, countertops and door handles – and keeps the gym in excellent condition. His #1 job is to keep kids from getting sick at Twisters, and he’s really good at it! The second person who helps keep your kids healthy is Miss Rita. She’s gone a few months of the year to visit grandchildren (and she makes sure to text us every so often to let us know what the summer-like temperatures are in California….These texts usually come in the middle of snow flurries or an ice storm…) but she makes sure all the handsoaps and paper towels are full, sanitizing stations (with Germ-X, tissues, etc.) are full, and in general, focuses on the deep-cleaning in the gym. When she’s around, our microwave doesn’t go a day without a deep cleaning, and those of you who have kids KNOW how valuable that is! On top of all those precautions we take….you’ll also see junior coaches out sanitizing mats in their downtime. We KNOW kids will get sick. They will get strep, the flu, and ear infections. But they also can’t live in a bubble. They need to be kids. They have to get their energy out and play on Friday mornings, celebrate their birthdays with their friends, tumble or cheer during the week and socialize. BUT, one of the most important things to US, is that they are safe and healthy while in our gym. So, THANK YOU to Carl and Rita for everything you do to keep our kids healthy and safe – especially during cold & flu season! – Danielle

P.S. Rita….It’s ONLY 21 degrees warmer in California today 😀
